Beautifully made with high quality finish, an early example of a skilled craftsman's work constructing these using copper to seal and make these boots water-tight. Manufactured in this style for novelty value and most likely purchased for high end gifting. These would be used to warm up your feet by filling with hot water and placing below your feet when travelling in either a sedan carriage or train. In the days before heated carriages there where various foot warmers heated using charcoal, oil or hot water. For long journeys hot water was one of the safest ways to avoid using inflammable materials that could pose a hazard and let off unpleasant fumes.
These are standard size for twin use and would also have been used in the household on cold winter nights to keep toes cosy and warm. The top contains a screw stopper, simple to fill with hot water and use time and time again.
Manufactured in the UK using high quality material!
Please note these do not comply to British Standard BS 1970:2012.
