Question: What does it mean single ribbed, is this the skin on the bottle?
Answer: This hot water bottle has ribbing on one side and a plain cross hatch pattern on the reverse side, generally called single ribbed, the advantage is the ribbed side defuses heat and the plain side is hotter so you get the best of both worlds with this type of set up.
Question: Can I use this bottle without a cover?
Answer: It is personal preference to use a cover or not, some like a very hot bottle, others want to cuddle up and prefer a cover. If using without a cover always follow instructions, the bottle can get very hot depending on how hot the water used is.
Question: Is this hot water bottle a bit softer and more moldable than others? I often find the sides around hot water bottles are very stiff and I'm looking for a nice soft one. If you could point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful! Thanks.
Answer: Some hot water bottles are stiffer than others, this one is made from thermoplastic PVC and it will bend. The hard shell ones tend to be eco-green as these are made using raw cane without any softening agents. Rubber is the most pliable but it's worth mention that as a bottle ages they tend to get softer and thinner. A new hot water bottle that is to genuine British Standard (plenty of fakes out there) has to be made to a certain thickness to comply. After use they tend to become thinner, especially rubber. If you want pliable, rubber would be the way to go, they have more give and mould to body shape.
The hotwater bottle is nice and a good size, easy to hold and does its job well. It does get toasty which is what I bought it for. The only negative I have is, that there is no rubber on the stopper, it says rubber-free, so far no drips. Otherwise I am happy with the purchase and it was a great price! It will save me lots of money on heating bills.
We are using them & keeping us definitely hot, would rate them 9 out 10.
